CIH and CITB-Construction Skills team up to promote retrofitting and healthier homes

-

Chartered Institute of Housing in Northern Ireland (CIH) and the CITB-ConstructionSkills NI are joining forces to promote retrofitting and healthier homes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 28, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The two organisations will be delivering new seminars for housing and construction industry professionals.

With innovative design and new technologies, retrofit can transform older homes – that seem inefficient and unsuited to 21st century living – into bright, modern, sustainable spaces. It can help address several current housing priorities, including:

• bringing empty homes back into use

• making best use of existing housing stock

• tackling fuel poverty

• preserving our architectural heritage.

CIH head of operations Jim Dennison said: “This is an exciting new development for both organisations. The issue of retrofitting is very topical in Northern Ireland right now. Together, CIH and CITB-Construction Skills NI will provide expert advice on the importance of retrofitting, legislative requirements and also how it can be best achieved in a practical and cost-effective way.’

CITB-ConstructionSkills NI chief executive Barry Neilson added: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with CIH to deliver these events. They will benefit employers and individuals across the construction industry – particularly developers and those working in the house building and renovation sectors. Northern Ireland can only achieve its energy targets through a trained and skilled workforce and these seminars will provide a stepping stone towards boosting both skills levels and energy performance. We look forward to two successful events and to continued partnership working with CIH in the future.”

The first of the seminars, Retrofitting – realising the advantages will take place on Thursday 2nd May 2013. Further details and booking information can be found at:
