Council raised awareness of important issues facing residents across the state
WASHINGTON, D.C. – RealEstateRama – The City Council on Tuesday raised much-needed awareness of important issues facing residents throughout the region and state.
The Council presented a proclamation recognizing Wildfire Awareness and Prevention Season, highlighting the importance of preparedness, public education, and regional coordination. Following the recent 200-acre “Gibby Fire” near Ortega Highway in unincorporated Orange County, the need for timely, coordinated, and up-to-date emergency planning has never been more evident.
These efforts play a critical role in building resilient communities and ensuring residents are prepared for the impacts of wildfires and other extreme weather events. Residents are encouraged to learn more through the Orange County Fire Authority’s Ready, Set, Go! program and sign up for AlertOC, a mass notification system that provides timely information about wildfires, earthquakes, and other local emergencies.
Council Members also proclaimed September as Hunger Action Month, bringing attention to the urgent challenges of hunger and poverty facing communities across California. Approximately 22% of California households—and 27% of households with children—experience food insecurity, underscoring the critical need to ensure that all Californians have reliable access to nutritious food.
Hunger Action Month serves as an opportunity to raise awareness, encourage community involvement, and support efforts that help individuals and families access the food and resources they need.
