DOE Announces About $967 Million in Additional Grid Resilience Formula Grants
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced approximately $967 million in additional funding through its Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant program. DOE said the money will help states, territories and tribes modernize energy infrastructure, prevent power disruptions, meet growing electricity demand and lower electricity costs.
According to DOE, projects will be locally driven and aimed at protecting against disruptive events and improving system performance so communities and businesses have dependable power. DOE said the investment advances the administration’s American energy dominance agenda.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright said the investments provide resources directly to states, territories and tribes to lower electricity costs and strengthen grid reliability. Office of Electricity Assistant Secretary Katie Jereza said the funding will help optimize electricity systems and prepare for future growth. DOE said states, tribes and territories can view their funding allocations and application instructions on its site.
