TUCSON – September 30, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) released the following statement today congratulating the University of Arizona on receiving nearly $1.8 million in grant funding from the National Science Foundation to study the optimal and actual implementation of green infrastructure to maximize urban shade.

“I congratulate the University of Arizona for receiving this tremendous award from the National Foundation of Sciences,” Rep. Grijalva said. “The planet has a finite supply of water, and as population size continues to grow, we must use this precious resource wisely. By investigating how much water green infrastructure can capture for tree growth, as well as the social network drivers of rainwater capture policies, the U of A is performing a vital service for the survivability and sustainability of human kind.”
