NREL Seeks Public Feedback on Standard Work Specifications for Energy Upgrades in Multifamily Housing
WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 15, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) invites manufacturers of energy-efficient products, public housing authorities, industry stakeholders involved in the development, finance, and maintenance of multifamily properties, and others to review and comment on the Standard Work Specifications for Multifamily Energy Upgrades. Developed under the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals project, the specifications are voluntary guidelines that outline minimum requirements for high-quality energy upgrades in multifamily homes. NREL is working on behalf of DOE to develop these guidelines and to gather and incorporate input from industry experts. The public review period will remain open through December 21, 2012.
Strong public involvement is essential to the success of the Guidelines for Home Energy Professionals project and the Standard Work Specifications for Multifamily Energy Upgrades. The public review and comment period offers an opportunity for industry to review the latest specifications and provide feedback through an online tool.
The online commenting tool allows individuals to administer and monitor all comments made through the standard work specifications development process. A list of frequently asked questions, a short instructional video, and contact information are also listed on the site for user support.
Additionally, there will be a webinar presented on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EST on the purpose, development process, and status of the Standard Work Specifications for Multifamily Energy Upgrades.
