New Facility Operated by the Addictions Care Center of Albany Is First of its Kind in Rensselaer County

Washington – RealEstateRama – The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) today announced the opening of a new men’s residential rehabilitation and reintegration program in Troy, operated by the Addictions Care Center of Albany. This new facility has 20 beds and is the first program in Rensselaer County to offer rehabilitation and reintegration services together in one location. OASAS provided more than $2.9 million to purchase and renovate the building, as well as $193,000 in startup support. The agency is also providing $270,000 in annual operational funding.

“Residential services programs offer help and resources for addiction in a safe and supportive setting, and are an important part of the addiction services continuum in New York State,” OASAS Commissioner Dr. Chinazo Cunningham said. “As the first facility of this type in Rensselaer County, this program will provide much-needed assistance for individuals in the community who have been impacted by addiction and will help support their long-term health.”

This type of program is designed to help individuals who need support in their recovery and may not be able to participate in treatment outside of a 24-hour residential setting. Services provided at the new facility include medication for addiction, education on substance use and recovery, counseling, career and life skills training, and recreational activities.

The new residential facility is located at 504 2nd Avenue in Troy.

Keith Stack, CEO of the Addictions Care Center of Albany, said, ““The Addictions Care Center of Albany is grateful for Commissioner Dr. Chinazo Cunningham’s support. The Commissioner and NYS OASAS staff continually demonstrate their commitment to prevention, treatment, and recovery.”

The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports oversees one of the nation’s largest substance use disorder systems of care with approximately 1,700 prevention, treatment and recovery programs serving over 731,000 individuals per year. This includes the direct operation of 12 Addiction Treatment Centers where our doctors, nurses, and clinical staff provide inpatient and residential services to approximately 8,000 individuals per year.
