28 Housing Leaders Urge Senate to Advance Bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act
Washington, D.C. – RealEstateRama – A group of 28 affordable housing leaders and housing industry trade organizations joined together to urge Senate leaders to bring the ROAD to Housing Act (S. 2651) to the floor for full consideration. Led by Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), the bill passed out of committee with unanimous support at the end of July. The ROAD to Housing Act represents a rare and vital opportunity for bipartisan action to address the growing housing affordability crisis.
In the letter, the group describes the ROAD to Housing Act as “one of the most potentially impactful housing proposals in over a decade,” highlighting its goals to expand and preserve housing supply, improve affordability and access, promote accountability and fiscal responsibility, and strengthen oversight and program integrity. The letter states that Chairman Scott has introduced S. 2651 as an amendment to the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), “which presents an expedient opportunity for advancing the bill.”
The group further emphasizes that advancing the ROAD to Housing Act would “build on the recent housing related strides made under the One Big Beautify Bill, including the expansion of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit.”
