WASHINGTON, DC – July 10, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from Ramona Clucas in Glen Ellyn who wants to know what the House is doing to help spur job creation.
“I regularly hear from employers in our district who want to hire people in science, technology, engineering, and math. I’m pleased that the Senate has taken up and the House has passed an initiative called the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. This will be on its way to President Obama’s desk and maybe it’s a foreshadowing of the Senate taking up some of the other 40 bills that are related to jobs that the House has passed.
“We’ve got to bridge this gap of skills, and one of the ways we can do this is through legislation, and we can also do it closer to home. I’m hosting a job fair at Harper College on July 21st. I hope that you can join us, we expect 100 employers there with good jobs, and we’re trying to make the connection with folks at home. ”
