Five New Sustainable Communities Designations Announced by Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and Maryland Department of Planning

    CROWNSVILLE, MD – September 24, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Maryland Smart Growth Sub-Cabinet announced the designation of five new “Sustainable Community Areas” under the state’s Sustainable Communities Act of 2010. Under this Act, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Raymond A. Skinner is charged with making recommendations for the designation to the Sub-Cabinet, which is chaired by Maryland Department of Planning Secretary Richard E. Hall. The newly designated Sustainable Community Areas are the Town of Federalsburg (Caroline County), the Town of Bel Air (Harford County), the Town of Leonardtown (St. Mary’s County), the City of Crisfield (Somerset County), and six communities in Calvert County.
