EPA Hosts Superfund Redevelopment Awards Ceremony in West Dallas

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is presenting the Excellence in Site Reuse Award to the Dallas Housing Authority and Goodwill Industries of Dallas, Inc. for redeveloping portions of the RSR Corporation Superfund site in west Dallas. The ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, at Goodwill Industries of Dallas, 3020 N. Westmoreland Rd., Dallas, Texas. The award recognizes their commitment to safely and sustainably reuse the property contaminated by the former lead smelter.

State Property and Buildings Commission to Meet Nov. 13

EPA Improves U.S.-Mexico Border with Environmental Projects

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is awarding more than $521,000 to 14 organizations in Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. The funds will support projects such as conservation, waste collection, water quality protection, recycling expansion, green infrastructure and improving environmental education in the region.

Residents encouraged to comment on Bellevue’s draft water plan

The City of Bellevue invites residents to an open house on Nov. 19 to give input on the Draft Water System Plan, which describes how the city plans to meet water needs for the next 20 years. The open house will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE, in Room 1E-113.

48-unit Affordable Housing Complex to be Built in Canandaigua

Veterans Housing for Canandaigua will provide affordable housing and on-site services with 48 units for veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced today that several New York priorities incorporated into the Military Construction appropriations bill have passed Congress and are now on their way to the President’s desk. Specifically, the bill includes $70 million to replace the waste water treatment plant at West Point. The plant was built in 1956 and has not been upgraded since 1972. As a result, the plant suffers from leaking tanks that are beyond repair. Additionally, the bill includes $55 million for a new elementary school at West Point

EPA to Hold Public Hearings in Atlanta on Proposed Clean Power Plan Actions

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a, two-day public hearing on the proposed Clean Power Plan federal plan and model rules during the week of November 16, 2015. The hearing will be held at the federal buildings in Atlanta, and will provide the opportunity for interested parties to comment on the proposed actions. EPA is accepting written comments on the proposal through January 21, 2016

Survey of Buyer Agents Shows Consumers Should Be Prepared for Delayed Real Estate Closings

A recent survey conducted by the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents (NAEBA) shows that some real estate closings are already being affected by the new “Know Before You Owe/TRID” regulations that went into effect October 3. The survey went out to brokers across the United States and nearly 20% stated they are already seeing issues, mostly delays in closing.
