Former NFL Players, Home Builders Build Sheds and Character with Naples High School Students

WASHINGTON, D.C. - March 30, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Students at Lely High School’s Construction Academy worked with an unusual team of apprentices for their community service project on March 29. More than 20 former NFL football players from around the country, along with volunteers from the Collier Building Industry Foundation, spent the afternoon with the students pounding nails instead of opposing players as they constructed storage sheds for homes built by Habitat for Humanity of Collier County.

HUD AWARDS $33 MILLION TO 18 LOCAL HIV-AIDS HOUSING PROGRAMS

WASHINGTON, DC - March 29, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced that more than 1,200 extremely low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS will continue to receive permanent housing as a result of nearly $33 million in grants HUD is awarding. Annually, these grants will provide permanent supportive housing for over 1,200 households so they can manage their health and access needed supportive services such as case management and employment training.

Federal Housing Finance Agency Reports Mortgage Interest Rates

Washington, DC - March 27, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) today reported that the National Average Contract Mortgage Rate for the Purchase of Previously Occupied Homes by Combined Lenders, used as an index in some ARM contracts, was 4.08 percent based on loans closed in February. Beginning this month, FHFA is calculating interest rates using un-weighted survey data. For January, a comparable rate based on unweighted data would have been 4.18 percent.
