NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – RealEstateRama – Following a 2 p.m. ceremony on Monday, October 6, the new Main Library at 230 Grace Street, Suite A, in downtown Wilmington will officially open to the public.

Community members are welcome to join the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, county staff, and the Grace District development team for the ribbon-cutting to celebrate the moment. The event will feature brief remarks before the public is invited to explore the state-of-the-art facility. Please note, this celebration is only for the Main Library portion of the building as work continues on exhibitions at the new Cape Fear Museum. The grand opening of the entire complex is expected in summer 2026.

“We’re looking forward to having familiar faces who spent time in the old library join us, and we’re certainly happy to welcome new visitors to this amazing building,” said Library Director Dana Conners. “We’re excited to show all the modern amenities we have and can’t wait for the public to participate in programs and activities.”

Following Monday’s ceremony, the library will begin operating during regular business hours (10 a.m.–7 p.m., Monday–Thursday; 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 1–5 p.m., Sunday). A full rundown of the schedule is available at NHClibrary.org. More information about the ongoing work at the Grace District can be found at NHCgov.com/Project-Grace.
