Ohio Contractor Tom Martin Named SMACNA 2018 Contractor of the Year

San Diego, Calif. – October 16, 2018 – (RealEstateRama) — Tom Martin, President of T.H. Martin Inc. in Cleveland, Ohio, received the annual SMACNA Contractor of the Year award at the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association’s 75th Annual Convention today.

“On behalf of SMACNA and the industry, I want to congratulate Tom on this prestigious award,” said 2018 SMACNA President Jack Knox. “Tom’s involvement in local and national SMACNA boards is both lengthy and impressive, and his work to advocate for and grow the industry make him especially deserving of the recognition.”

Since becoming president of SMACNA Cleveland in 2014, Martin has been instrumental in instituting and developing impactful programs for SMACNA’S contractor education, training, safety and industry events. Nationally, Martin joined the SMACNA National Board of Directors in 2017 and in July 2018 was appointed to the SMACNA/SMART Best Practices Market Expansion Task Force. He also chairs several national committees, including the Contractors Operations Manual Task Force, where he is spearheading the development of a new library of business books that will enhance the productivity and profitability of his fellow SMACNA contractors.

As a trustee on his local Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, he is a champion of the union sheet metal industry training program, and is actively involved in a program that enables high school students to discover the benefits of a career in the sheet metal industry. Martin also collaborated with his labor partners to defeat a bill aimed at severely curtailing energy efficiency standards.

In addition to these many efforts, he has hosted numerous fundraisers for Ohio’s governor, as well as other federal and state elected officials.

T.H. Martin, Inc. is a family-owned business started in 1985 by Martin’s father, Thomas H. Martin. In his role as president, Martin works alongside his brother Mike Martin, who serves as vice president of the company. Tom resides in Bay Village, Ohio with his wife Kirstin and two children, Jake and Julia.
