Guilford-based firm will retain its name and leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 11, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Randall, Realtors has acquired Page Taft in yet another expansion that extends the family-owned company’s reach from just north of New Haven, Connecticut to Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

Two years ago, Randall, Realtors, which is based in southern Rhode Island, purchased Cape Cod’s largest real estate company, Kinlin Grover. Since then, it has opened two other Connecticut offices in Norwich and East Lyme to complement its Mystic location.

Randall, founded 34 years ago, will retain the Page Taft identity, and its former owner, Karen Stephens, will oversee the Guilford, Madison and Essex offices. The merged companies also will retain Page Taft’s exclusive affiliation with Christie’s International Real Estate in Connecticut.

Stephens said her decision to merge with Randall, Realtors was motivated by a common culture and family-owned work ethic. “We match up very well moving forward,” she emphasized. “In addition, both companies have recently affiliated with Real Living, so we already share a common brand – with our red and black colors – down to signage. We’ve gotten to know each other through this relationship, so the transition will be nearly seamless.”

Both companies will share a “pledge of premier service,” which includes a survey sent to all clients who buy or sell a property through the firms. “Although the survey is just one of the many extra steps we take in or commitment to the highest-quality service, the direct feedback we receive makes it the most important,” said Randall, who founded his family firm in 1977, and currently has six offices in Rhode Island.

Randall, Page Taft and Kinlin Grover are affiliated with the Real Living network, which represents more than 10,000 real estate professionals worldwide. “This merger expands Randall, Realtors’ family of companies to 26 offices along the coast across three states,” said Doug Randall, founder and CEO. “It confirms our confidence in the southern New England real estate market as we head into 2012.”

With this latest acquisition, Randall also announced a new corporate name, The Randall Family of Companies, as the umbrella for all three real estate firms and nearly 500 sales professionals. The Randall Family of Companies encompasses residential and commercial real estate, summer and yearly rentals, second home sales, relocation services, property management, commercial leasing and investment properties.

“In merging with Page Taft, we have significantly expanded our ability to serve the coastal real estate market – especially high end homes – in three contiguous states, with unparalleled expertise and marketing resources,” explained Randall.

Randall is now one of the largest real estate companies in Connecticut, extending from New Haven through Windham and New London Counties and across Rhode Island. According to Real Trends, Randall ranks as the country’s 129th largest residential real estate firm.

“Our merger signifies a mutual commitment to Connecticut’s coastline real estate market,” said Page Taft’s Stephens. “Both companies share great expertise about our shoreline communities and homeowners’ lifestyles.”

Michael Schlott, Randall’s president, said Page Taft’s local identity will be strongly supported. “At The Randall Family of Companies, we remain committed to our brands – Randall, Realtors, Page Taft and Kinlin Grover,” he emphasized. “Each of our companies has established itself as a market leader with a strong, well-respected and trusted local identity.

“Page Taft’s strong reputation and high recognition in its local market is highly valued. By combining our company’s operational capacities and relying on Real Living’s global marketing reach, Page Taft’s sales professionals will be supported by unprecedented resources to do what they do best – serve their buyers and sellers,” said Schlott “Last year, 98.9 percent of our clients said they would use our services again. That satisfaction level is something we bring to our ownership of Page Taft,” he emphasized.

Stephens purchased Page Taft in 2005, five years after she joined the company following a career in retail management for companies such as Ann Taylor and Macy’s. “After a long career in retailing, I was fascinated by the prospect of real estate, working where I live; being entrepreneurial; and intimately serving clients with maybe the biggest decision in their lives,” she explained.

Currently, she is president of the Guilford Chamber of Commerce, the Middlesex Shoreline Association of Realtors and the Women and Family Life Center.
