Paterson Youth Council to Host Financial Literacy Day at John F. Kennedy High School

WHAT:

In celebration of National Financial Literacy Month this April, NJCDC’s Paterson Youth Council is hosting a Financial Literacy Day event at John F. Kennedy High School this Tuesday. Paterson Youth Council members will be joined by volunteers from local financial institutions to teach JFK students about different financial literacy topics. At the end of the event, employees from several banks will be available to answer students’ questions on financial topics, and each student will be able to open a savings account with North Jersey Federal Credit Union.

WHO:

The Paterson Youth Council, facilitated by NJCDC, is a citywide youth-led and youth-driven leadership development program that is the premier voice of Paterson youth. Over the past year, Paterson Youth Council members have been participating in a robust financial literacy curriculum, and they are ready to share their knowledge with their peers. They will be joined by volunteers from several local financial institutions, including Columbia Bank, Valley Bank,

Peapack-Gladstone Bank, Lakeland Bank, and Modera Wealth Management. Together, they will teach students from John F. Kennedy High School about financial literacy.

WHY:

The Paterson Youth Council has been participating in a robust financial literacy curriculum and members are eager to help their peers also become more financially literate. In honor of National Financial Literacy Month, the Paterson Youth Council will teach Paterson youth about the importance of financial literacy.
