Two City Pools Participating In Valley-Wide Event
WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 28, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — In collaboration with the Southern Nevada Child Drowning Prevention Coalition (SNCDPC), the city of Las Vegas is hosting the Super Summer Safety Fair from 6 to 8 pm., Friday, May 30, at both the Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza; and Pavilion Center Pool, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive. Participation is free.
The event is being held simultaneously at SNCDPC partner pools across the Las Vegas valley to educate parents, guardians and day care providers about infant and child safety in and around the water. Participants will receive information about safeguarding their homes, preventing accidents and how to respond should an emergency occur. Information about sun safety will also be provided. Those attending the safety fair between 6 and 8 p.m. will receive free admission to the pool between 7 and 8 p.m. Children under the age of 7 must be supervised by an adult within arm’s reach at all times.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a component of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, drowning is the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death in the United States among young people ages 1-14. Children ages 1-4 have the highest drowning rates and are most at risk.
