The China Business Council for Sustainable Development Becomes Member of ULI Greenprint Center for Building Performance

WASHINGTON – June 8, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Urban Land Institute (ULI) Greenprint Center for Building Performance, a worldwide alliance of leading real estate owners, investors and financial institutions committed to improving the environmental performance of the global property industry, today announced that the China Business Council for Sustainable Development (CBCSD) has become the latest institution to join the organization.

CBCSD, founded in 2003, is a coalition of leading Chinese and foreign enterprises registered and operating in China with the purpose of providing a platform of exchange and information sharing in order to help companies improve performance in health, safety and environment, corporate social responsibility, climate change and other sustainable development efforts. As a member of the ULI Greenprint Center, CBCSD will contribute to the center’s ongoing goal of leading and educating the real estate industry in actions that improve the environment through energy efficiency, water conservation and waste diversion while demonstrating the correlation with increased property values. Members of the center share their building performance results with the public at large through the Greenprint Performance Report™, and participate in Greenprint-sponsored pilot programs that test new technology and operational best practices.

“Raising energy efficiency in buildings is one of the key approaches to realize energy saving and emission reduction,” said Zhai Qi, executive secretary general of CBCSD. “The China Business Council for Sustainable Development joined hands with Greenprint Center to conduct the building environmental performance project in China, aiming to scale up the green building practices in China. The joint program offers evaluation methodology and tools on building environmental performance, to improve building energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and bring about economy benefits, facilitating multi-stakeholders to take actions, boosting low-carbon and green development in Chinese building sector.”
