Thompson Announces more than $1.9 Million for Ford City Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project
Funding will update the Borough’s storm sewer lines
WASHINGTON, D.C. – RealEstateRama – U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson (PA-15) today announced more than $1.9 million in federal funding for the Ford City Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project.
The funding is part of an initiative to improve the Borough’s stormwater management system. This money will be used to replace nearly 6,300 feet of outdated storm sewer pipes, which are fundamental for transporting stormwater runoff in several highly populated and flood-prone areas of the community.
“I was pleased to secure funding so Ford City’s stormwater system remains top of the line,” Rep. Thompson said. “The Borough’s proximity to the Allegheny River makes the area prone to flooding, so it’s important the community has the infrastructure to respond to these situations and continue to promote public safety.”
“Ford City Borough is very appreciative to receive the Federal Appropriations funding for the Storm Sewer Rehabilitation project,” Ford City Council President Vicki Schaub said. “Infrastructure has been our prime focus since 2020.”
“The residents of Ford City desperately needed this money to update an old system that was in dire need of an overhaul,” Ford City Council Vice President Sally Beck said.
“This investment in our storm sewer system is an investment in the long-term stability of Ford City,” Ford City Borough Manager Charles Stull said. “By proactively rehabilitating aging infrastructure, we are protecting homes, roadways, and taxpayer dollars while positioning the Borough for a stronger future.”
“Our stormwater system is largely underground and often out of sight, but it is one of the most critical components of our infrastructure,” Ford City Public Works Director Chris Jogan said. “This funding allows us to address deteriorating lines before failures occur and before emergency repairs become far more costly.”
“This funding is a major win for Ford City. It allows us to move forward with critical storm sewer rehabilitation without placing the full financial burden on our local taxpayers,” Ford City Council Member Tony Saloum said.
Rep. Thompson secured the funding through Community Project Funding for Fiscal Year 2026.
