YouthBuild at Greenbuild 2014

-

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 4, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — For the fifth consecutive year, YouthBuild USA’s Green Initiative hosted a booth at the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, the world’s largest gathering dedicated to green building. Joined by YouthBuild Bogalusa and six YouthBuild graduates who attended as scholars, the Green Initiative had a significant presence at the event, highlighting the importance of the YouthBuild mission and our role in the green movement.

With booth space donated by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and outfitted by Freeman, YouthBuild had prominent visibility. More than ten students and staff members from YouthBuild Bogalusa staffed the booth along with the scholars, answering hundreds of inquiries from conference attendees, business representatives, and vendors about YouthBuild’s LEED building projects, opportunities to partner, and ways to lead in local communities by sharing expertise with students and graduates. Key Green Initiative partner Saint-Gobain displayed a life-size poster at their booth to highlight their work with YouthBuild.

Additionally, at the Affordable Homes & Sustainable Communities Summit, speakers challenged attendees to consider urban regeneration, community engagement, healthy housing and more.

Green community and affordable housing projects are becoming more commonplace as programs liked LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, and others help housing and community development providers create healthy and affordable housing in neighborhoods across the U.S. These projects are providing long-term financial, environmental and health benefits to the developer, community and residents. YouthBuild is continuing to help lead the way for the next generation in these arenas.
