Republic Become Independently Owned and Operated Regions

DENVER – December 17, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Global real estate franchisor RE/MAX, LLC divided and sold their Caribbean and Central America (CCA) region today. The new owners of RE/MAX Caribbean and Central America are John and Lucinda Turley of Belize, and Ricardo and Teresa Cardenas of El Salvador. A new RE/MAX Dominican Republic region is now owned by Mélido and Marianela Marte of Santo Domingo.

“These two new owner groups are the perfect region owners. Each of these individuals has been a successful member of the RE/MAX network for many years. This change in ownership feels like a natural progression that demonstrates the ‘Everybody Wins’ philosophy at RE/MAX,” says Larry Oberly, Vice President, Global Development, RE/MAX, LLC.

John Turley has owned two successful brokerages in Belize since 2009, earning the title of the #1 real estate brokerage in that country from 2011-2013 for RE/MAX Southwind in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, and the #1 real estate brokerage in Caye Caulker Village in 2013 for RE/MAX Island Real Estate. Turley himself was recognized as the #1 RE/MAX Global Sales Associate in 2013 and has been a Top 30 RE/MAX Sales Associate since 2011.

“There’s a tremendous opportunity to continue RE/MAX growth in the Caribbean and Central America and make it the go-to, trusted real estate brand in the minds of every homebuyer and seller,” says John Turley, CEO of RE/MAX Caribbean and Central America. “I’m glad I have the chance to help lead that growth.”

Ricardo Cardenas bought one of the region’s first offices in 1995, winning several RE/MAX awards including #3 in worldwide transactions in 1998. Cardenas was recruited to work for RE/MAX, LLC in Denver in 2000 and since then has managed and developed all Latin American and Caribbean regions from approximately 500 sales associates in 2005 to over 4,000 today.

“After owning a brokerage in the region and then working for RE/MAX, LLC in Denver, I’m excited to move back to El Salvador to work more closely with our membership in the region and promote a new era of growth,” says Ricardo Cardenas, President, RE/MAX Caribbean and Central America.

Mélido Marte and his wife Marianela are 25-year real estate veterans who have owned a brokerage in the Dominican Republic since 1997. They have received several awards from RE/MAX including Owner of the Year in 1998, 2001 and 2007. Mélido was recognized as #1 in closed transactions worldwide for an individual in 2006 and 2007 and has earned the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Martes operate RE/MAX Metropolitana, and plan to expand the region to all major markets in the Dominican Republic.

“It feels great to be able to bring the Dominican Republic onto this new stage as owners of the newest RE/MAX region,” says Mélido Marte, President, RE/MAX Dominican Republic. “There are many ways the RE/MAX brand can make an impact in the Dominican Republic by helping home buyers and sellers with the very best customer service.”
