NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 9, 2016) – (RealEstateRama) — Kicking off its second decade of partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Nissan North America today announced a $1 million grant to help build more homes with families in need of decent, affordable housing. Nissan’s cash contributions to Habitat for Humanity in North America total more than $14 million over the past 11 years.

Portions of Nissan’s contribution will be used to expand Habitat’s vehicle fleet, which supports disaster recovery efforts. The largest portion will go toward the cost of building homes in areas of the country where Nissan has an operational presence. Nissan employees will volunteer to support construction or revitalization projects in 12 Habitat communities this year, including:
- Habitat for Humanity of Central Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona
- Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley in Sunnyvale, California
- Northwest Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta, Georgia
- Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity, in Aurora, Illinois
- Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County in Detroit, Michigan
- Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver in Denver, Colorado
- Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area in Canton, Mississippi
- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee
- Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury in Franklin, Tennessee
- Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity in Murfreesboro, Tennessee
- Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity in Dallas, Texas

Nissan’s partnership with Habitat began in 2005 when it donated 50 trucks and mobilized employees to assist in home building following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf Coast region. In the last decade, Nissan has donated an additional 88 vehicles. Since 2006, Nissan’s employees have logged more than 80,000 volunteer hours with Habitat for Humanity, building 71 homes across the U.S.
