Today’s housing news is driven by two data releases from national real estate organizations: NAR’s September existing-home sales figures and a report on Hispanic homeownership and wealth from NAHREP and the Hispanic Wealth Project.
- Existing-Home Sales Rise 1.5% in September, Down 2.2% From a Year Ago, NAR Says: NAR reports that existing-home sales increased 1.5% month-over-month and decreased 2.2% year-over-year, at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.99 million. Monthly sales rose in the South and West, held steady in the Midwest and fell in the Northeast, while year-over-year sales declined in all four regions.
- Hispanic Households Drove All Net U.S. Homeownership Growth in 2025, Report Finds: NAHREP reports, in the 2026 State of Hispanic Wealth Report released with the Hispanic Wealth Project in Las Vegas on September 14, 2026, that Hispanic households accounted for all of the net growth in U.S. homeownership last year.
Both reports offer a national view of who is buying homes and how the market is moving.
