Bill Supporting Oklahoma’s Rural Water Systems Goes to President’s Desk
The U.S. House of Representatives on Monday voted to send a bill that supports rural and small community waters systems in Oklahoma and across the country to the president’s desk. S. 611, the Grassroots Rural and Small Community Water Systems Assistance Act, a bill that reauthorizes federal assistance programs for small public water systems, passed the House unanimously.

House Passes Bennet-Backed Rural Water Bill
Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet applauded the passage of the Grassroots Rural and Small Community Water Systems Act by the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill-passed unanimously by the Senate in June - will help small and rural communities comply with safe drinking water regulations. Bennet helped introduce the bill earlier this year with Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND). It now heads to the White House to be signed into law.

Hawaii Part of Multi-State Agreement to Stop Unsupported Mortgage Fees
The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs’ (DCCA) Division of Financial Institutions (DFI) participated in an agreement in late November with all 50 state mortgage regulators and Prospect Mortgage, LLC to send a message on the practice of charging unsupported and improperly disclosed fees to borrowers.
Markey, McGovern Announce $63.7 Million for Massachusetts Water Infrastructure Projects
Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA) announced that Massachusetts has been awarded $63.7 million by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help finance improvements to water projects that are essential to protecting public health and the environment. The funds will be primarily used to upgrade sewage plants and drinking water systems, as well as replacing aging infrastructure, throughout the state.
