“Across North and South Carolina, local leaders are collectively working toward greater resiliency and sustainability of our communities through green buildings, and the Green Gala gives us the opportunity to celebrate our collective successes while recognizing individual leadership and contributions,” said Rhiannon Jacobsen, vice president of strategic relationships at USGBC. “Holly has been an unwavering advocate and leader in our movement, and her experience and insights in sustainable design will serve as motivation and inspiration for the Carolinas.”

Henderson, a visionary leader in the green building industry, is the founder of H2 EcoDesign, a sustainability collaborative that creates high-performance buildings, building products and sustainability services. One of the nation’s prominent experts on the development of the LEED green building certification program, Henderson brings a wealth of knowledge in sustainable building design and advocates for collaboration and partnership when it comes to greening the built environment.

A LEED Fellow, Henderson has led several companies through the process of LEED certification and was a member of the core team that developed the original USGBC LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED CI) workshop curriculum. After USGBC introduced LEED v4 in 2013, Holley was selected to present for both the online education and the first Greenbuild workshop.

Prior to founding H2 Ecodesign, Holley spent 10 years with tvsdesign, where she began its green studio. She later served as Interface’s director of creative design. Both of these experiences provided her with a unique perspective into identifying the sustainability needs of building owners, manufacturers and design firms.

“The Carolinas have some of the fastest-growing communities in the U.S. and are uniquely positioned for green building leadership. I commend the great work already taking place throughout the region, and I look forward to addressing some of the challenges we face as a movement and the solutions that will support our continued growth,” said Henderson.

Every year, the Carolinas Green Gala brings together communities from North and South Carolina to celebrate local leaders in the green building movement. This year, in addition to a formal sit-down dinner and silent auction that will benefit the efforts of USGBC in the Carolinas, the gala will announce the winners of the Sustainable Business Awards, highlighting eight LEED projects and green building leaders that are transforming the built environment every day in North and South Carolina.
