WASHINGTON, D.C. – July 27, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) announced today that Mike Mendelsohn, an energy industry veteran with 25 years of experience, is the trade association’s new Senior Director of Project Finance and Capital Markets.

Prior to joining SEIA, Mendelsohn worked as a Senior Financial Analyst for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). There, he organized key stakeholder communities to facilitate wide-scale investment in the solar asset class.

“We are thrilled to add as distinguished an expert in solar finance and markets as Mike to the SEIA team,” SEIA President and CEO Rhone Resch said. “When it comes to growing the solar industry, one of our top policy priorities is to increase the availability of low-cost financing. Mike’s experience providing financial innovation and vast analytical experience in the solar industry will help us identify new ways to bring capital into the solar markets, lowering our costs even further.”

In addition to his time at NREL, Mendelsohn worked on a wide variety of solar, utility, fuel and policy-related issues for Levitan & Associates Inc., the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, and Western Resource Advocates.

“I’m very excited to work with SEIA, and its broad membership, to facilitate low-cost project finance and capital market solutions to support solar asset deployment,” Mendelsohn said. “The solar industry is one of the fastest growing industries in America and SEIA’s great ongoing work to improve access to capital will help serve a critical demand of members, and the industry as a whole.”
Mendelsohn’s first day was Monday, July 27.
