Local Real Estate Executive Named to Top Role for The Counselors of Real Estate

CHICAGO, IL – January 25, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Chicago real estate executive Richard Tannenbaum, CRE®, principal, E.L.K. Capital Advisors LLC (E.L.K.), has assumed the role of one of three 2012 liaison vice chairs of the board of The Counselors of Real Estate®, an international organization of top-level commercial real estate advisors headquartered in Chicago. Tannenbaum began his one-year term on November 5 at the organization’s recent annual convention in Washington, D.C.

In his new role, Tannenbaum will oversee a number of boards and committees including Dispute Resolution and External Affairs.

Since 2007, Tannenbaum has served as principal of E.L.K., a FINRA-registered broker-dealer specializing in capital raising and advisory services in the alternative investment markets, including real estate. Prior to E.L.K., Tannenbaum led the advisory services division of Cohen Financial, a national real estate investment banking firm headquartered in Chicago, where he advised on more than $2.6 billion of real estate assets and closed more than $800 million of real estate financing, investment and sale transactions.

Tannenbaum holds a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in management and accounting from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a bachelor’s degree in government from Wesleyan University. He received the CRE designation from The Counselors of Real Estate in 2000. In addition, Tannenbaum holds Series 7 and 63 securities licenses.

The Counselors of Real Estate, established in 1953, is an international group of high profile professionals including members of prominent real estate, financial, legal and accounting firms as well as leaders of government and academia who provide expert, objective advice on complex real property situations and land-related matters.
