NARI Presents Legislators of the Year Awards

Washington, DC – March 16, 2016 – The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) today presented its Legislator of the Year Award to Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) for his work on Energy Efficiency issues. In particular, the Association is appreciative of Senator Portman’s work, along with Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) on S. 720, the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2015.

This legislation would apply practical, cost-effective measures to address energy consumption, and incentivize private sector utilization of energy efficient technologies across all economic sectors. The Alliance to Save Energy states that S. 720 is projected to create 192,000 jobs, save $16.2 billion annually and avoid 95 million metric tons of CO2 emissions annually by 2030. NARI strongly supports incentives for using energy efficient technologies in existing homes and buildings.

“NARI thanks Senator Portman for his tireless work on energy efficiency issues,” said NARI CEO Fred Ulreich. “Remodelers believe that policies which encourage better energy efficient technologies are not only good for the environment but make good business sense. NARI supports Senator Portman’s efforts and urges Congress to pass this legislation,” Ulreich said.
