This Giving Tuesday, AWEA will harness the Power of Wind to help veterans find jobs

Washington, D.C., November 30, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is putting out a call this #GivingTuesday to its grassroots network, Power of Wind, asking for support communicating the economic success of wind power while also aiding veterans transitioning back to the civilian workforce.

“Wind power is a job-creating engine that’s putting thousands of Americans to work, including many veterans. Our newly-elected officials need to know the scope of this opportunity and how they can pass job-creating policies to keep business booming,” said Tom Kiernan, CEO of AWEA. “We’re asking Americans who support the growth of renewable wind energy to make a donation to the Power of Wind in the spirit of #GivingTuesday. In turn, AWEA will give back half of each donation to Hire Heroes USA, furthering their efforts placing American veterans in good jobs.”

Power of Wind works to educate decision makers and legislators about the enormous economic opportunity growing wind power presents in terms of American jobs and community investment. Over 88,000 Americans are employed in wind energy and that number could grow to 380,000 by 2030 according to Department of Energy’s Wind Vision. Through smart policies American workers can continue their work producing homegrown, affordable, and clean wind energy.

Many careers in wind power benefit from the unique skills and qualifications veterans bring to the table. As a result, the wind power industry is a major employer of American veterans.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that brings diverse organizations and communities around the world together to give back. In the spirit of giving and collaboration, donations made to Power of Wind for #GivingTuesday will be split with Hire Heroes USA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps U.S. military members, veterans and spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce.
