WASHINGTON (April 16, 2018) – (RealEstateRama) — USGBC has announced that Greenbuild, the world’s largest green building conference platform, is coming to México City June 19–21, 2018. Greenbuild Mexico will be held in conjunction with SUMe Sustentabilidad para México A.C. (SUMe) and will offer a forum for the green building community to unite, change lives, revolutionize business and address pressing issues such as air quality, human health, energy use and global climate change. Sign up to be notified when registration is open.

“México’s architects, construction firms, energy companies, city planners, enterprises and politicians are working to create the sustainable cities of tomorrow,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO, USGBC and GBCI. “México is home to nearly 1,000 projects using LEED, totaling 31 million gross square meters of building space. Bringing Greenbuild to Mexico this year will help to further build the local green building base and engage the industry at a deeper level.”

“Today, more than ever, we have the opportunity to grow the sustainability industry in our country,” said Luis Alberto Vega, president of SUMe. “We all talk about it and are directly or indirectly participating in actions to improve the living conditions of those who inhabit this planet. México is a benchmark for the Latin American region and joint actions, such as GBCI México, reflect the effort and interest [in] action now.”

Greenbuild México will offer attendees the opportunity to hear from industry leaders on their vision about the future of green building in México, to connect with industry professionals and build business relationships and to get the latest green building and LEED research, while earning continuing education hours at educational sessions. Additional information on sessions is available.

“Greenbuild is a powerful global platform that enables leaders from across the green business community to unite and lay the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable way forward,” added Ramanujam. “The knowledge and passion of México’s green building community is a driving force for transforming the built environment across the country and establishing México as an emerging leader in sustainability.”

In an effort to expand access to green building resources, GBCI and SUMe, the green building council for México, created GBCI México in 2017. With an office in México City, the partnership provides more localized support and improved access to training and GBCI programs such as LEED, and it paved the way for Greenbuild Mexico.

“Within moments of attending my first Greenbuild show, I knew this conference would be an incredible catalyst for change in my country,” said Alejandra Cabrera, executive director of SUMe. “México is one of the largest and fastest-growing markets for green building in the world, and Greenbuild México will be the place where we bring together the expertise and leadership needed to accelerate the green building movement. Greenbuild is unlike any other platform in the building industry, and we are thrilled to join USGBC in bringing Greenbuild to México.”

Founded in 2002, Greenbuild brings together industry leaders, experts and frontline professionals dedicated to sustainable building, making Greenbuild the ideal space to learn about groundbreaking green building products, services and technologies. Greenbuild México will take place over three days and offer speakers, invaluable networking opportunities, industry showcases and workshops on the LEED green building program.
