Today, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) released awhite paper making a case for the recapitalization of the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and continuing the reforms of the GSEs started with the passage of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (HERA). The white paper, “Protecting Duties to Serve and Responsible Next Steps for Reforming the Secondary Mortgage Market,” follows a letter sent on October 27 to President Obama signed by NCRC, NAACP, and LULAC urging the Administration to rethink its position on the recapitalization of the GSEs.

Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that MATTHEW GOLDREICH, 46, of East Lyme, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall in New Haven to two years of probation, including three months of home confinement, for producing and disseminating false advertisements for mortgage modification services. Chief Judge Hall also ordered GOLDREICH to pay a $100,000 fine and $75,794 in restitution.

U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today confirmed that the City of Carencro, La. will be receiving $2,001,735 in grants and $22,920,000 in loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development (RD) to build a wastewater treatment facility. Earlier this year, Vitter had sent a letter of support to the USDA Secretary Thomas Vilsack in support of the City of Carencro’s application, and the USDA responded having confirmed the City of Carencro’s application was approved.
