Ten grants totaling $100,000 have been awarded to Urban Land Institute (ULI) district and national councils through ULI’s Urban Innovation Grant program. Only ULI district and national councils are eligible to apply for grants, with awards ranging between $10,000 and $25,000 for innovative projects that engage ULI members and further the institute’s mission at the local level.

As part of President Obama’s continuing efforts to assist communities negatively impacted by changes in the coal industry and power sector, today the Administration is announcing the second round of grants awarded this year as part of the POWER Initiative’s “POWER 2016” funding opportunity that invests in economic revitalization and workforce training in coal communities across the country.

NeighborWorks America announced today that the application period will open Oct. 3 for special one-time down payment assistance grants to eligible community development financial institutions (CDFIs) that want to increase low- and middle-income homeownership in their communities. The one-time grants are part of Project Reinvest, a limited and targeted program from NeighborWorks America, not related to its core grant operations.

As part of President Obama’s ongoing efforts to assist communities negatively impacted by changes in the coal industry and power sector, today the Administration is announcing awards totaling $38.8 million for 29 economic and workforce development projects -- in and across multiple states -- that are building a stronger economic future for their communities, businesses, and workers.  The awards are administered by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA).

To protect children and families from the hazards of lead-based paint and from other home health and safety hazards, The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today awarded more than $52.6 million in Lead Based Paint Hazard Control grants to 23 local and state government agencies (see chart below).

Congresswoman Aumua Amata, was pleased to announce the release of more than $9.5 million in grant funding to American Samoa through the Office of Insular Affairs’ (OIA) Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Program. “These grant funds are essential to making sure our infrastructure is sound, and I am pleased to make this announcement,” said Amata. “It is a never ending fight to make sure that our islands are being put on equal footing as the states and other territories, but I am thankful to have colleagues in the Department of the Interior who work closely with me to ensure that is the case,” continued the Congresswoman.
