Incoming Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Visits Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno

Springfield, MA – December 18, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Incoming Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, Jay Ash, visited Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno today. Sitting in the meeting with the Mayor: Chief Development Officer Kevin Kennedy, City Solicitor Ed Pikula and MassMutual Vice President of Community Responsibility Nicholas A. Fyntrilakis. Incoming Secretary Ash was interested in visiting Springfield and introducing himself to Mayor Sarno as well as hearing first hand where the Baker Administration can be of assistance in spurring Springfield’s renaissance.

An overview of Springfield’s development projects was discussed. The presentation, “On the Rise”, documenting the $2.7 billion of economic activity in Springfield was also provided to Secretary Ash. Mayor Sarno highlighted the rehabilitation of Springfield Union Station and the soon to be launched north-south “knowledge corridor” rail service beginning on December 29, 2014; the Mayor used the opportunity to push for a high speed east-west rail link to Boston.
