55+ Housing Market Ends Fourth Quarter on Record-High

Builder confidence in the single-family 55+ housing market remains strong in the fourth quarter of 2016 with a reading of 67, up eight points from the previous quarter, according to the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 55+ Housing Market Index (HMI) released today. This is the highest reading since the inception of the index in 2008.

New Home Sales Post Highest Yearly Total Since 2007

Sales of newly built, single-family homes rose 12.2 percent in 2016 to 563,000 units, the highest annual rate since 2007, according to newly released data by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau. New home sales fell 10.4 percent in December 2016 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 536,000 units.

Nationwide Housing Production Up 11.3 Percent in December on Multifamily Surge
