Washington, DC – July 9, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) voted yesterday for the “FOR VETS ACT of 2013”, a bill that simply allows organizations comprised mostly of veterans to receive surplus federal property donations such as office supplies and construction equipment.

The legislation permits Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) to obtain property designated under the Federal Surplus Property Program. It authorizes the transfer of federal property to state agencies for distribution to VSOs that are comprised substantially of veterans.

Said Ros-Lehtinen, “I am pleased to have supported this legislation and be able to help our hard working veterans’ organizations. Our returning patriots and the many legitimate groups that work with them should have all the help they need to continue their valuable service. Our veterans’ organizations should be allowed to receive surplus federal property donations and this bill will allow this to happen. ”
