Padilla Secures Over $45 Million for 25 Projects in Los Angeles County

WASHINGTON, D.C. – RealEstateRama – U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) announced that he secured over $45.3 million in federal funding for 25 projects across Los Angeles County in the first package of FY 2024 appropriations bills. The package includes the Agriculture; Energy and Water; Military Construction-VA; Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development; Commerce, Justice, and Science; and Interior appropriations bills. The House and Senate will consider the bills this week ahead of the March 8 funding deadline before they are sent to the President to be signed into law.

“I am proud to have secured millions in funding for projects that will improve the quality of life across Los Angeles County,” said Senator Padilla. “These investments will support local governments and non-profits working on the ground in our communities to provide cleaner water, safer streets, and more affordable housing. As our state continues to combat a housing crisis and years of historic drought and flooding, these investments in local infrastructure are critical.”

Projects across Los Angeles County that will receive federal funding include:

Artesia’s Citywide Road Improvement Project – $6 million: This funding will help the City of Artesia reconstruct its poorest condition streets.

San Gabriel Basin Restoration Fund – $5.5 million: This funding will support the ongoing remediation of groundwater cleanup efforts throughout the San Gabriel Valley, including Alhambra, Irwindale, La Puente, and Rosemead.

Santa Clarita Valley Multimodal and Resiliency Enhancements – $5 million: This project aims to make congestion mitigation and traffic safety improvements along 1.9-miles of The Old Road between Henry Mayo Drive and Magic Mountain Parkway.

Access Services’ Antelope Valley Paratransit Operations and Maintenance Facility in Lancaster – $3 million: This funding will support the construction of a paratransit operations and maintenance facility in the Antelope Valley.

City of Los Angeles’ Inside Safe Program Expansion – $3 million: This funding will be used to support the City’s Inside Safe Program to help address street homelessness, including proactively engaging with those living in tents and encampments and providing immediate permanent supportive housing.

Los Angeles County Sanitation District Biomethane Interconnection Project – $2.5 million: This funding will help to create an interconnection to allow biomethane from the Food Waste Recycling System to be injected into the local natural gas pipeline system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the landfill.

Lancaster City Ave M Interchange Project – $2 million: This funding will help the City of Lancaster acquire right of way for the improvement of the Ave M bridge over SR-138/14.

City of Agoura Hills Bikeway Master Plan Implementation Project – $1.62 million: This funding will support the design and construction of bikeway improvements in the City.
Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency PFAS Treatment and Disinfection Facilities – $2.1 million: This funding will support the construction of a centralized facility to restore to service three groundwater wells that were taken offline due to PFAS contamination in Santa Clarita.

Metrolink’s Rail Crossing Integration Technology for Safety and Congestion Relief Project – $1.6 million: This funding will support a project to implement Wireless Crossing Nearside Station Stop technology at key Metrolink crossings to minimize gate downtime, vehicular and pedestrian traffic congestion, and unsafe driver actions.

City of Monterey Park’s Fire Station 61 – $1.5 million: This funding will provide for the design and remodeling of Fire Station 61. The existing fire station is aging and beginning to exceed its useful life.

City of Norwalk Water Improvement Program – $1.26 million: This funding will support the City of Norwalk’s Water System Improvement Program projects to provide water quality improvements, reduce imported water needs, and enhance public health and safety.

Amistad de Los Angeles Residential Reentry Facility – $1 million: This funding will help renovate and expand Amistad de Los Angeles Residential Reentry Facility, which helps formerly incarcerated men reintegrate into the community.

Lynwood Senior Center Renovations – $1 million: This funding will support repairs and upgrades to the City of Lynwood Senior Citizens Center.

City of Inglewood’s Reservoir and Water Storage Project – $1 million: This funding will support the design and construction of a new reservoir with connecting pipelines to provide reliable water service to 16,000 residential and commercial water accounts and approximately 85,000 residents in the City of Inglewood.

City of Compton’s Pearl Avenue Sewer Replacement Project – $959,752: This funding will help replace and repair failing sewer lines serving the City of Compton.

Santa Monica Affordable Housing Rehab Project – $850,000: This funding will support the rehabilitation of an affordable housing property in the Pico Neighborhood Santa Monica that was purchased by Community Corporation of Santa Monica with a loan from the City.

Norwalk Transit System Bus Stop Improvements – $850,000: This project will enhance amenities at bus stops throughout the City of Norwalk.

City of West Hollywood Log Cabin Facility Renovation – $850,000: This funding will help rehabilitate the Log Cabin Facility in the City of West Hollywood, which offers addiction recovery services and meeting spaces.

City of South El Monte Community Facility at New Temple Park – $850,000: This funding will construct a new community facility in New Temple Park, replacing three existing, outdated facilities with a higher-functioning building.

City of Rosemead Garvey Park Improvements Project – $800,000: This funding will help to rehabilitate Garvey Park.

LAX Suites, a Supportive Housing Project in LA County – $620,000: This funding will support construction costs of LAX Suites, a permanent supportive housing project in the unincorporated neighborhood of Del Aire Los Angeles County, that will house 47 households.

Westmont-West Athens Mobility and Traffic Safety Improvement Project – $500,000: This funding will support a variety of safety and mobility improvements in Westmont-West Athens, including new traffic signal installation, upgraded intersection safety improvements, and replacement of bus shelters.

City of Avalon’s Cabrillo Mole Ferry Terminal Improvements Project – $500,000: This project will support a multi-phased project to rehabilitate and substantially improve the Cabrillo Mole Ferry Terminal.

Mobile Charger for Plug-in Hybrid Tugboat Project – $500,000: This funding will support a mobile charger for demonstration project by South Coast Air Quality Management District to deploy a plug-in hybrid tugboat with an innovative vessel charging system with batteries and hydrogen fuel cell power generation.
