WASHINGTON – August 20, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Ten Urban Land Institute members have been selected to receive scholarships to attend ULI’s 2015 Fall Meeting in San Francisco through a program sponsored by the institute’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) and Prologis, a ULI sustaining member company and an Icon sponsor for the meeting.

The WLI Prologis Scholarship program is awarding a total of $25,000 in scholarships to Tracey Ferguson, assistant project manager, The New Home Company, Sacramento; Vanessa Muscara, senior research analyst, M&G Real Estate, London; Kristin Olson, real estate and asset manager, Atlanta Beltline, Inc., Atlanta; Alysia Osborne, planning coordinator City of Charlotte Planning Department, Charlotte, North Carolina; Lauren Sanders, acquisitions and development associate, Zeckendorf Development, LLC, New York City; Kristine Smale, senior consultant, John Burns Real Estate Consulting, Fort Myers, Florida; Cyndi Thomas, director, asset management, Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners, Denver; Pam Thompson, economic development analyst, City of Dallas; Amanda Tropiano, senior associate, PlaceWorks, Santa Ana, Calif.; and Elizabeth Wendell, architect and senior designer, Gensler, Los Angeles.

Each of the scholarships covers the registration fee for the Fall Meeting, set for October 5-8 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. The scholarship program advances WLI’s mission, which is to promote the advancement of women, throughout their careers, as leaders in the real estate industry; increase the number of women who serve in leadership positions in the real estate industry and in ULI; increase the visibility of women leaders in the real estate industry and in ULI; increase the number of women who are active ULI full members; and support the development of young women members as leaders in ULI and in their professions.

“We are thrilled to be offering these outstanding women the opportunity to experience all the ULI Fall Meeting has to offer, from meaningful networking to highly informative discussions on a wide range of industry issues,” said WLI Chair Wendy Rowden, president of the 42nd Street Development Corporation in New York City. “This scholarship program is incredibly competitive, and we couldn’t be more impressed with the leadership of these ten winners, both within their organizations and at ULI.”

Funding for the scholarships was provided through Prologis’s Breakthrough program, which seeks to strengthen the Prologis team by supporting the retention of women and identifying and removing barriers to advancement. The goal of Breakthrough is to create a work environment where women feel connected and empowered, and a business culture that offers opportunities for success and recognizes the value of a gender-diverse workforce.

Diana Scott, Chief Human Resources Officer at Prologis, noted, “Prologis is delighted to support rising women in real estate with scholarships to the ULI fall meeting where they will gain valuable insight and perspective, augment their networks, work with senior mentors and turbo-charge their careers. This program is an excellent way to start to equalize opportunities for women in the real estate industry.”

In addition to attending networking events and real estate sessions, scholarship recipients will be paired with WLI leaders who will serve as mentors throughout the week, and who will accompany the Fall Meeting newcomers to ULI Product Council meetings, the institute’s prestigious program that involves the industry’s most renowned members sharing knowledge and best practices. Recipients will also be attending a special WLI panel, “View from the Top: Inclusive Leadership in the Real Estate Industry,” scheduled for October 6, which will include a discussion of findings from a recent survey of WLI members regarding advancements in real estate career opportunities for women.
