WADE PARK GROUNDBREAKING MARKS START OF MAJOR FRISCO MIXED-USE CENTER BY THOMAS LAND & DEVELOPMENT

~ Newly Acquired Land Expands Development Plans to 175 Acres ~
Upcoming Fall Event to Give Community a First Taste of What’s to Come

FRISCO, Texas – August 7, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Today marks the beginning of Wade Park, a major mixed-use destination center in Frisco. Community leaders and partners joined developer Thomas Land & Development (TLD) in breaking ground on the newly expanded 175-acre project, conveniently located along the Dallas North Tollway. Plans for Wade Park feature an unparalleled blend of upscale retail, dining, entertainment, hotels, commercial office space, and residential housing. TLD announced that plans are also in the works for a community event that will offer a “first taste” of Wade Park restaurants and venues.

“Recognized as one of the fastest-growing and friendliest cities in America, Frisco is the ideal home for Wade Park and we are excited to be a part of this special community,” said Stan Thomas, president and CEO of Thomas Land & Development. “With the acquisition of additional land beyond the originally planned 110 acres, the development will eventually expand to 175 acres to substantially increase office space. We are creating a true destination center, to live, work, shop and play in a convenient and beautiful setting true to Texas’ warm hospitality and landscape. We are looking forward to providing a sneak peek of Wade Park at a community event coming this fall.”

The initial 110 acres of Wade Park are currently under design by Wakefield Beasley & Associates architectural firm, developing a stylish and welcoming lifestyle village featuring 600,000 square feet of high-end specialty retail, including a 45,000 square foot Whole Foods Market. Entertainment venues for bowling, movies and nightlife will be announced in the coming weeks, and a boutique hotel and a luxury hotel are also in the development plans.

In the first phase, more than 2 million square feet of Class A office space will be offered in buildings throughout the vast development – with an additional 65 acres to be planned for expanded office space. Wade Park will also feature 1,300 stylish apartments and 50 chic condominiums, as well as 127 Charleston-style single-family homes complete with luxury amenities and elite concierge services.

Mayor Maso and numerous other community leaders took part in today’s event, celebrating the much-anticipated Wade Park groundbreaking. Balfour Beatty, the development’s construction partner, began work immediately following the ceremony as participants looked on.

“Wade Park’s planned 2.3 million square feet of commercial office space will ultimately help grow Frisco’s workforce,” said James Gandy, president of the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC). “The FEDC’s business attraction and expansion efforts are producing many inquiries from companies interested in relocating to, or expanding in, Frisco. This substantial addition of Class A office inventory allows a place for businesses to grow, and in turn, provide quality jobs for our highly-skilled residents who want to work closer to home.”

It represents a great new start for Frisco,” said Tony Felker, president and CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. “To date, we do not have anything similar to this type of mixed-use development and we really anticipate this project to launch the next phase of Frisco and continued development along the Tollway.”
