Doubling Down On Energy Efficiency: The Senate Moves Authorization And Appropriations Bills That Will Increase U.S. Energy Productivity

A Statement from the Alliance to Save Energy

Washington, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — “The Senate has doubled down on energy efficiency, first with overwhelming bipartisan passage of the comprehensive energy bill — which boasts energy efficiency policies as a cornerstone— and then today with passage of the Energy and Water (E&W) appropriations bill that providessignificant funding for critical energy efficiency programs administered by the U.S. Department of Energy,” said Alliance to Save Energy Director of Government Relations Daniel Bresette.

“And, should these two bills emerge from Congress as currently crafted, the winners will be American consumers and businesses, benefiting from a more energy productive economy that will deliver energy and dollar savings, new and good jobs and an improved environment.

“The Senate, by its recent votes, has confirmed that energy efficiency is the bipartisan ‘sweet spot’ in national energy policy. Members from both sides of the aisle recognize that supporting research, development, policies, regulations and programs that drive energy efficiency into every corner of our economy is a wise national investment – and one that will reap economic, environmental and national security benefits. We urge the House to act as wisely as the Senate and work with us toward our goal of sending bipartisan energy efficiency legislation and a robust appropriations bill to the President’s desk.”

The Alliance to Save Energy is a coalition of prominent business, government, environmental and consumer leaders who promote the efficient and clean use of energy worldwide to benefit consumers, the environment, economy and national security.
