U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced $1,947,000 in federal funding for the Town of Mexico in Central New York. The funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Waste and Water Disposal Loan and Grant Program. The Town of Mexico will receive a grant amount of $462,000 and an additional loan of $1,485,000 to design and cover the costs of a new water district, Water Service Area #3, to provide safe and reliable water for residents living in the town

Steve Williams spent 18 years in the Navy, most of that with a Navy Construction Battalion. As a "Seabee," Mr. Williams was deployed in 2007 to Iraq where he did contingency construction for special operations forces, including the building of hangar bays for the 82nd Airborne and barracks for the Navy Seals.

Houston's Tejano Center for Community Concerns, which operates a homeless and foster care program serving 150 children annually, wants to change that statistic. Tejano Center, in collaboration with The Vecino Group, plans to provide permanent supportive housing for homeless young adults in Houston, including those aging out of foster care.

The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns, Grants Management Division, announced that all qualified private non-profit and for-profit organizations providing or planning to provide services and programs in the areas of social welfare, youth services, alcohol and substance abuse, homelessness, youth centers and other public service programs within Maui County are invited to submit an application for grant funds for Fiscal Year 2017 and Fiscal Year 2018. Three years after Superstorm Sandy hit New York, Congressman Steve Israel (D –NY) renewed his push and announced legislation that would make co-ops, condo associations, and certain common interest communities eligible for the same vital assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) available to other homeowners. Currently, co-ops, condo associations, and common interest communities are only eligible to receive loans and not grants. Following Superstorm Sandy, Rep. Israel wrote a letter and urged FEMA to make co-op and condo associations eligible for storm recovery grants.

U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin together with Representatives Elijah E. Cummings, C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger and John P. Sarbanes (all D-Md.) today announced $10,000,000 in federal funding for the Southeast Baltimore Port Industry Freight Corridor Plan, making critical transportation infrastructure improvements to the Broening Highway Corridor that will create jobs and enhance the economic security of the Port of Baltimore and surrounding business community.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that USDA is awarding loans and grants that will help more than 1,100 rural small businesses and agricultural producers reduce energy usage and costs in their operations. The funding is for energy efficiency improvements and/or renewable energy systems. USDA is financing projects in every state, as well as in the Virgin Islands, the Western Pacific and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

The Urban Land Institute (ULI), a global research and education institute dedicated to responsible land use and sustainable community building, has been awarded an $800,000 grant from The Kresge Foundation to support efforts by the ULI Center for Sustainability to make communities more resilient and adaptable to the impacts of climate change and reduce the environmental imprint of the real estate industry.
