Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation Leverages Web-Based Programming to Safely Service Rhode Island’s 200-Unit Affordable Housing Community

PROVIDENCE, R.I., – RealEstateRama – Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation (Rainbow), a nationwide nonprofit organization focused on service-enriched housing for affordable and senior communities, has partnered with Standard Companies, an affordable housing developer. Together, they will provide supportive services to residents of the newly renovated Charles Place Apartment Homes in Providence.

Reports show over 90,000 Rhode Islanders have become unemployed during the coronavirus pandemic. Residents living in the 200-unit complex will have access to a full range of programs and services, to help older adults remain independent and healthy in their community.

“Our innovative approach to providing services to seniors focuses on social engagement, health and wellness, computer skills, food programs, and medical care resources,” said Flynann Janisse, Executive Director of Rainbow.

Tenants also have the opportunity to participate in Web-Based Resident Applied Programming (WRAP). The series of webinars cover topics such as financial literacy, health and nutrition, continuing education, community enrichment, and weekly exercises.

WRAP is designed for a group setting and allows residents to connect with instructors online and in real-time, throughout the week. Additionally, the On-Demand library of classes is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The video content covers a broad range of supplemental topics which include personal development, housing tips and resources, and crisis intervention.

Rainbow currently serves 111 communities and 15,286 units across the United States. The nonprofit is the only third-party service provider to be a Certified Organization for Resident Engagement & Services (CORES). Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future developed the program to identify quality resident services coordination in affordable rental housing. The CORES certification is one of the requirements needed for property owners to qualify for Fannie Mae Healthy Housing Rewards – Enhanced Resident Services financing incentives. Partnering with Rainbow also helps developers by improving occupancy, reducing turnover costs, and lowering concessions.
