Larsen Announces Grant To Address Homelessness Among Local Veterans
The Housing Authority of Snohomish County (HASCO) received $154,850 in project-based vouchers through the Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program. Veterans who participate in the HUD-VASH program contribute no more than 30 percent of their own income toward rent and the remaining balance is paid by the grant to the property owners.
Murray On New Federal Housing Vouchers for Homeless Veterans in WA State: We Owe...
U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior member of both the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development and the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, announced new resources to help homeless veterans secure stable housing. Washington state will receive an additional 41 housing vouchers that will be distributed among three different housing authorities, part of a $6.4 million grant to help veterans around the country.

Menendez, Booker Announce Over $300K to Help NJ Homeless Vets Move into Permanent Homes
Just before Veterans’ Day, U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs will receive $334,874 to help implement practices to reduce the amount of time it takes for veterans to locate and move into permanent housing. Governor Cuomo Announces Groundbreaking of $10 Million Housing Development for Veterans
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the start of construction on a $10.7 million supportive housing development for veterans in the Town of Canandaigua. Veterans Housing for Canandaigua will provide affordable housing and on-site services with 48 units for veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans has released a research brief on Migration By Veterans Who Receive VA Homeless Services by Stephen Metraux, PhD. This brief contains initial findings from a study on migration among 113,400 veterans who initiated use of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) homeless services in 2011 or 2012, and follows them using VA administrative records for up to two years after this initial contact. The findings review the “how many” and the “where” of this phenomenon.
VA and PenFed Foundation Work Together to Prevent Veteran Homelessness
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is teaming up with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation (PenFed Foundation) to strengthen efforts to prevent Veteran homelessness. This new partnership will expand the PenFed Foundation’s existing Military Heroes Fund Emergency Assistance Program to include all Veterans. Previously, the program was available only to Veterans of the Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF) conflicts.

Fayette County Veteran Living Homeless for Month of November
Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) released the following statement applauding Lance Corporal Brandon Rumbaugh of Fayette County for his advocacy for our nation’s veterans. The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concerns, Grants Management Division, announced that all qualified private non-profit and for-profit organizations providing or planning to provide services and programs in the areas of social welfare, youth services, alcohol and substance abuse, homelessness, youth centers and other public service programs within Maui County are invited to submit an application for grant funds for Fiscal Year 2017 and Fiscal Year 2018. Deadline to submit applications is December 15, 2015.
