Governor Cuomo Announces Groundbreaking of $10 Million Housing Development for Veterans
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the start of construction on a $10.7 million supportive housing development for veterans in the Town of Canandaigua. Veterans Housing for Canandaigua will provide affordable housing and on-site services with 48 units for veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold four, two-day public hearings across the country on the proposed Clean Power Plan federal plan and model rules during the weeks of November 9 and November 16, 2015. The hearings will be held at federal buildings in Pittsburgh, Denver, Washington D.C., and Atlanta, and will provide the opportunity for interested parties to comment on the proposed actions. EPA is accepting written comments on the proposal through January 21, 2016.

Migration By Veterans Who Receive VA? Homeless Services
The National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans has released a research brief on Migration By Veterans Who Receive VA Homeless Services by Stephen Metraux, PhD. This brief contains initial findings from a study on migration among 113,400 veterans who initiated use of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) homeless services in 2011 or 2012, and follows them using VA administrative records for up to two years after this initial contact. The findings review the “how many” and the “where” of this phenomenon.

The Energy Department today announced the launch of the SEED Collaborative, a strategic effort to help cities and states manage building energy performance data and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in their jurisdictions. Through a three-year partnership, a select group of cities and states will receive technical assistance, participate in peer exchange, and provide input on future development of DOE's well-established Standard Energy Efficiency Data (SEED) PlatformTM, a resource in the Better Buildings toolkit.
VA and PenFed Foundation Work Together to Prevent Veteran Homelessness
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is teaming up with the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation (PenFed Foundation) to strengthen efforts to prevent Veteran homelessness. This new partnership will expand the PenFed Foundation’s existing Military Heroes Fund Emergency Assistance Program to include all Veterans. Previously, the program was available only to Veterans of the Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF) conflicts.
