U.S. Representative Randy Hultgren (IL-14) today announced that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded the State of Illinois and local governments millions of dollars in grants for Fiscal Year 2016 to help provide housing assistance for needy individuals and families, including more than $48 million affecting the 14th Congressional District.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced loans and grants for 141 projects to build and improve water and wastewater infrastructure in rural communities across the nation. "Many rural communities need to upgrade and repair their water and wastewater systems, but often lack the resources to do so," Vilsack said. "These loans and grants will help accomplish this goal. USDA's support for infrastructure improvements is an essential part of building strong rural economies."

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today that USDA is investing $3.7 million to help rural families repair and rehabilitate their homes. The funds are being awarded through the Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program in 46 states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to support the renovation of 1,147 units

A comprehensive new analysis released today by the Center for American Progress reveals that more than seven years after the housing crash, nearly 1,000 U.S. counties continue to present increasing or stagnating percentages of underwater homes. There are also 600 additional counties that are beginning to see some improvement, though they still feature high percentages of underwater homes. This positive trend could be derailed if there is an uptick in the number of foreclosures in these counties.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (Bank) today reported net income of $5.6 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2015. In comparison, for the quarter ended June 30, 2015, the Bank reported net income of $23.9 million. For the nine months ended September 30, 2015, the Bank reported net income of $52.5 million.

The people of Vermont will now forever have access to one of the state's most popular and well-loved recreation areas in Central Vermont-the Molly's Falls Pond property, known by many as the "Marshfield Reservoir". The Vermont Land Trust announced the sale of 1,029 acres to the Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation. Now called Molly's Falls Pond State Park, the property boasts a 402-acre reservoir, roughly 35,000 feet of undeveloped shoreline, and over 600 acres of forestland. Three years after Superstorm Sandy hit New York, Congressman Steve Israel (D –NY) renewed his push and announced legislation that would make co-ops, condo associations, and certain common interest communities eligible for the same vital assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) available to other homeowners. Currently, co-ops, condo associations, and common interest communities are only eligible to receive loans and not grants. Following Superstorm Sandy, Rep. Israel wrote a letter and urged FEMA to make co-op and condo associations eligible for storm recovery grants.

U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) joined 49 senators in supporting legislation to disapprove EPA’s carbon regulations for new and existing power plants, saying the regulations are harmful to Tennessee utilities.
